Ramapuram is a Town in Kottayam District in the Indian State of Kerala. Spread over an area of 54.54 Km2. It is also the fastest growing town in Kerala. Ramapuram is Blessed with natural scenic beauty and is ideal for all nature lovers. Ramapuram’s economy is driven by agriculture, business and small industries. Farmers in Ramapuram raise a number of agricultural products such as variety of crops, coconut, pepper, rubber are also cultivated in plenty.
Ramapurathu warrier (1703-1753) was born in Ramapuram. He was a courtier two kings of Travancore, Marthanda Varma and Dharma Raja Kuchela Vrittam Vanchippattu is the most celebrated work of Ramapurath Warrior. It explains the story of Kuchela, a devotee and an old classmate of Krishnan, going to Dwaraka to meet with him. Through this poem worrier was indirectly presenting his miseries before the king seeking the king’s help and later he rewarded. Kuchela Vrittam Vanchippattu composed more than two centuries ago even still one of the most popular poems of Malayalam language.
Lalithambika Antharjanam
Lalithambika Antharjanam was not only an Indian author but also she was a Social Reformer. Her most famous novel “Agnisakshi” which won the Kendra Sahitya Accademy Award and Kerala Sahitya Award in 1977. A Aathmakadhakkoru Aamukham is her autobiography.
She was the part of the most powerful landholding Brahmin cast of Kerala. She was not allowed to study in school and could only glean scraps of information about the outside world through male relatives who were kind enough to tell her about current affairs. Then she longed to take part of Indian freedom movement. In 1926 she was married Narayanan Namboothiri, his family was based in Ramapuram.
